What does the Readiness score show?

The Readiness score is based on a simple reaction time test and has become one of the elemental measurements of how quickly and effectively an individual can execute mental operations. Studies have shown that there is a direct correlation between reaction time and athletic performance as well as cognitive abilities.

Factors that improve reaction time include not only repetitive training exercises, but also cardio and weight training, hydration, sleep, and a positive mental state of mind. Conversely, factors that impair reaction times include repetitive hits to the head and diagnosed concussions, the ingestion of drugs and alcohol, brain trauma, fatigue, and cognitive decline from neurological diseases (e.g., dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Parkinson’s Disease).
Consistently measuring reaction time, mental agility (or decision-making), and focus capabilities as part of a cognitive assessment can help athletes continuously improve in multiple facets across every sport and reach new levels of success.

Track changes to your cognitive performance

Your Pison device and application allow you to measure three essential cognitive performance metrics: readiness, focus, and mental agility.  Pison enables you to monitor these performance metrics over time so you can understand your current mental state at any time and track progress you are making in your training and preparation routines.  Pison provides the following analytics to help you monitor changes in your cognitive performance metrics:

  • Personal Baseline – Establish a personal baseline for reaction time that can be used to compare with future reaction time tests.  Degradation of reaction time could indicate a potential impairment from head injury, fatigue or lifestyle choices.
  • History
    • Readiness score – See daily, weekly, and monthly results.
    • Mental Agility score – See daily, weekly, and monthly results. View chart of scores over time. View personal best and worst scores.
    • Focus score – See daily, weekly, and monthly results.
  • Circadian Rhythm – See Readiness scores as they vary based on time of day.

Our graphs and measurements explained

Baseline Score

The baseline score is a calibrated reaction time test which averages your reaction time (in milliseconds) for three separate tests in order to approximate an average score which your future readiness test results will be compared against.

Readiness Score

The readiness score is the calculation of how your reaction time result compares to your baseline score. For example, if your baseline score is 200 ms and your reaction time result is 180 ms, then your Readiness Score result will say your reaction time was 10% faster than your baseline score.

Readiness Score vs Reaction Time

The readiness score is the percentage of your latest score in comparison to your baseline whereas the reaction time is the test result in ms. In this example below, the Readiness Score is 15% faster and the reaction time is 230 ms.

Agility Score

The agility score is calculated from the inverse efficiency score of your reaction time result divided by the percentage of stimuli you correctly responded to. This number is mapped to a 1-100 scale in order to show how you are testing. Keep in mind that it will be very difficult to receive a 100 result.

Charge your device

When you received your Pison wearable, you also received a USB charging cable.  To charge your device connect the USB side of the cable to a charging outlet (a USB to outlet adapter may be required) and connect the other end of the cable to the side of the Pison wearable so that the pins are fully connected to the wearable.

Improve your cognitive performance with Pison READY

Pison READY gives you the information you need to monitor and track important cognitive performance metrics, including readiness, focus, and mental agility. Every improvement plan starts with a measurement of your initial baseline data and requires consistent monitoring to track results.

Cognitive scores can be affected by a diverse number of factors, including training regimes, diet/hydration, fatigue/sleep patterns, time of day/circadian rhythm, injury (including head trauma), and lifestyle choices such as drug or alcohol use. Pison READY gives you a convenient and accurate way to measure your cognitive performance metrics and monitor your performance over time.

Many Pison users measure these performance metrics on a daily basis and record information in the Notes section of each test regarding recent training sessions, lifestyle choices, sleep, and diet that could have had an effect on the cognitive scores. You can use that information to adjust your training and preparation to maximize and improve your performance.
